What: We are currently organising a men’s Veterans team (over 35’s) to participate in the Banbury District & Lord Jersey – Veterans Division 2 starting in September 2026.
Who: The team’s principles align with the club’s values of teamwork, support, encouragement, improvement, and fairness. In veterans football, the focus is on enjoying the game in our later years without being overly serious, as long as everyone puts in their best effort. Each player in the matchday squad will have a role to play during the game, and we understand when it’s time to step off the field and give others a chance for some playing time.
When and Where: Training won’t be too intense, just a regular kick-about to get to know each other and start gelling as a team. We’re thinking Thursday or Friday evenings for training (astro in Winter, grass in Summer), with games on Sunday mornings every couple of weeks. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to use the Horton View sports ground (OX16 9HR).
Why: Why not! There’s still some football magic left in those legs, so why not jump in, kick the ball around, and see where it takes us? We’re a bunch of busy folks, so our matchday squad will probably be a merry-go-round every week. But hey, as long as we’ve got 12-16 players up for each game, let’s give it a shot!
